Where to Go for Late Night Food in Baltimore

by Jennifer Waldera on Nov 1, 2016 in Roundups

We all hate that moment when the dreadful realization hits that most kitchens have stopped serving, but we need some sort of sustenance to sop up the night’s liquid indiscretions. Typical takeout may do the trick, but there are increasing options around Baltimore that allow us to think outside the (pizza) box when it comes to late-night nosh.

This new-ish addition to Fells Point focuses on meatballs like classics with beef, pork and veal, or spicy pork as well as gluten free versions like chicken and vegetarian, all of which can be paired with one of five different sauces. Eat them solo, perched on slider rolls or stuffed into a sub as late as midnight Sunday through Wednesday or 1:30 AM Thursday through Saturday. (814 S Broadway;
443-759-5315)

Open until 4 AM every day of the week, this Korean BBQ is the place to pop in to fulfill late-night cravings for the likes of bibimbap, bulgogi beef, and kimchi. (18 W 20th St; 410-837-5231)

This expansive spot on Boston Street stays open until 4 AM on Fridays and Saturdays to serve hungry crowds in Canton. The restaurant’s long menu features long lists of options for quesadillas, burritos and fajitas, dozens of combinations of tacos, enchiladas, chalupas, and burritos and plenty of shareable appetizers like nachos, cheese dip and guacamole. While the restaurant’s specialty is Mexican, a few other dishes like chicken wings and potato skins can be found on the menu as well. (2324 Boston St; 410-617-0959)

Just off of Broadway in Fells Point, this favorite breakfast spot stays open for 24 hours on Fridays and Saturdays. Settle into the cozy yet eccentric dining room for savory plates like huevos rancheros, biscuits and gravy, omelettes, or creative specials, or check out the sweet dishes on the lengthy list of pancakes and french toast. (1621 Aliceanna St; 410-522-3940)

This Mt. Vernon mainstay, open until midnight on Thursdays and 3 AM on Saturdays and Sundays, has been serving late night food for thirty years. The menu features a wide variety of Greek specialties as well as Italian entrees and a long list of sandwiches, wraps, and subs. (829 N Charles St; 410-727-7191)

This French-inspired restaurant classes up late night food with a bar menu until 1 AM on Friday and Saturday nights that features smaller bites like fried fingerlings with espelette mayo, gruyere beignets, mushroom and gruyere gratin or grilled pistachio sausage alongside larger options like steak frites or a sandwich featuring duck confit with onions and strawberry jam. (1709 N Charles St; 443-835-2945)

If sweets are what you crave late at night, Insomnia Cookies has you covered with their warm cookies that are available in-store or via delivery until 3 AM. There are classics like chocolate chunk, snickerdoodles, sugar, and oatmeal raisin as well as varieties like M&M, peanut butter chip, and white chocolate macadamia nut. Add ice cream and stir in toppings to make it a la mode or make a cookiewich. (10 E 33rd St, 877-632-6654; 812 S Broadway, 877-632-6654;1059 S Charles Street Baltimore, 877-632-6654)

Open daily from 7:30 AM - 5 AM, this small corner diner in Canton offers an extensive and affordable menu that ranges from simple breakfasts and sandwiches to Greek specialties and local favorites like crab cakes. (2200 Boston St; 410-675-7077)

This Hampden eatery serves a menu of snacks like duck poutine, fried chicken with a sticky chile sauce, a cheese plate, or brussels sprouts and sandwiches that range from burgers (veggie and beef), to riffs on a cubano and a croque monsieur, as well as shareable tartines until 1 AM on Friday and Saturday, and midnight the rest of the week. (911 W 36th St; 410-243-6300)
