Where to Celebrate Valentine's Day in Baltimore

by Jennifer Waldera on Feb 8, 2017 in Roundups

Unless you’ve missed all of those commercials for roses and rings, you know the day of chalky heart-shaped candy is on the horizon. If you love the holiday of love, you’re in luck - there’s an abundance of opportunities to celebrate around the city starting as early as the ninth. However, for those not as excited about Cupid and his arrows, there are also a few spots that are thinking outside of the (oversized shiny heart-shaped) box with some entertaining (and sometimes charitable) Valentine’s Day events as well.

Ikaros
This annual early kickoff to Valentine’s Day on February 9 from 6:30 PM - 9 PM will feature a variety of traditional Greek entrees and starter selections for only $30 per person, along with a cash bar in this classic Greektown restaurant. Sponsored by the the Lord Baltimore Chapter #364 Order of AHEPA, the event aims to raise scholarship funds. To reserve a spot, call the event organizer at 443-286-6605. (4901 Eastern Ave.; 410-633-3750)

Ottobar
On February 10 upstairs at Ottobar, DJ Mills will be spinning favorites from Beyoncé, Kanye and Jay-Z for the Bey v. Jay v. Ye Dance Party: Valentine’s Edition. Deep Eddy Lemonade Vodka Drink Specials will be running all night. (2549 N Howard St.; 410-662-0069)

Birroteca Baltimore
From February 10 - 14, Birroteca will be offering cocktail specials as well as chef’s specials like duck fat smashed potatoes with pancetta and leek gravy and a lobster and spaghetti dish for two with melted tomatoes, butter poached lobster, and a sherry cream sauce, alongside cocktail specials. (1520 Clipper Rd.; 443-708-1934)

BoatHouse Canton
This spot will offer a three course menu featuring a shared appetizer, two entrees, a shared dessert and two glasses of sparkling wine for $50 per couple. The special runs from February 10 - February 14; on Valentine’s Day, a long stem rose will be included as well. (2809 Boston St.; 410-773-9795)

Cunninghams
Just a short drive from the city, in Towson, Cunninghams will feature a special prix-fixe menu ($50 pp/$65 with wine pairings) Friday, February 10 through Monday, February 13, along with the normal menu. On Valentine’s Day the restaurant will only offer the special prix fixe menu with a take home treat. (1 Olympic Pl.; 410-339-7730)

Pig and Rooster Smokehouse
On February 11 from 9 PM - 2 AM stop into Pig and Rooster for the Lock & Key Party. At random, ladies will get locks and the guys will get keys to match up and find Mr. or Ms. Right (for tonight?). Drink specials (aka discounted liquid courage) will be on tap all night. (3242 Foster Ave.; 410-522-1696)

The Attic at Flavor
On February 11, Flavor will be hosting their Lust party, which is open to pairs or solo guests, all of whom will be greeted with a glass of bubbly at the door. (15 E Centre St.; 443-563-2279)

Grand Central
On February 11, Grand Central will host its Annual Valentine's Party on both floors with double power hours featuring $3 domestics and rails and music by Vodkatrina. Not digging Valentine’s Day? Pop into Owl Bar on February 11 for a love bites menu, ice luge, giveaways, and anti-love potions for their Anti-Valentine’s Day party. Bring a picture of your ex for a free Valentine’s Day shot. (1 E Chase St.; 410-347-0888)

Fells Point Tavern
From 11:30 AM - 3 PM on February 12, Fells Point Tavern will be hosting Galentine’s Day Brunch with a special brunch menu, bottomless mimosas, bloodys, Natty Bohs, and a surprise cocktail along with goodie bags. Cask & Grain
The three course Valentine’s Day menu at this new-ish seasonal American restaurant on the Square in Canton is $59 per person and includes a bottle of Segura Cava Brut per couple. There are a number of dishes to choose from for each course, but we’re possibly most excited about the shareable C&G Sundae for dessert with housemade chocolate marshmallow and vanilla bean ice cream, Godiva hot fudge, bourbon soaked pecans, sea salt caramel and chantilly creme. (2823 O'Donnell St.; 443-948-5576)

The Elephant
The classy yet comfortable spot in Mt. Vernon is offering a prix fixe menu at $85/person ($115 with wine pairings) that includes starters like fried oyster and French onion soup alongside other savory dishes in the second and third courses like lobster ravioli, buttered pappardelle with braised lamb shoulder and shaved ruffle, oven roasted squash with quinoa, and a stuffed chicken with bittersweet mole, saffron rice and avocado.
