Where to Celebrate Mother's Day 2017 in Baltimore

by Jennifer Waldera on May 9, 2017 in Roundups

We’d all be lying if we said we hadn’t given our mothers more than a few reasons to drink, right? Now that we’re “attempting to be” adults, it’s time to treat her to those beverages, and there are more than a few spots in Baltimore ready to pour for the moms who have given their hearts and souls (and livers) to us.

B&O American Brasserie
Take Mom for an overnight stay at the Hotel Monaco, or just pop in for the holiday’s brunch with an early buffet featuring breakfast breads, eggs, meats, and fruit from 8 AM - 10 AM, or the later expanded offerings after 10 am with the likes of fried chicken, ratatouille, an omelet station, and sweets as well as $15 bottomless mimosas and Bloody Marys. (Early buffet: $20/adults $10/children, Brunch $40 adults/$15 children.) (2 N Charles St, 443-692-6172)

BoatHouse Canton
Stop in between 10 AM and 3 PM for a prix fixe brunch starting at $35. Nearly every table has a water view. (2809 Boston St, 410-773-9795)

Blue Hill Tavern
From 10:30 AM - 7 PM, take Mom for the three course prix fixe menu as well as $35 brunch options until 2 pm at one of the few upscale spots in Brewer’s Hill. Check out the menu here. (938 S Conkling St, 443-388-9363)

Cosima
Pop into this cozy and classy Italian alcove for a $50 prix fixe two course brunch with a complimentary cocktail. (Mill No. 1, 3000 Falls Rd; 443-708-7352)

Gunther & Co.
This comfortable yet stylish spot in Brewer’s Hill is offering a two course meal for $28 per person (children $12) for Mother’s Day. (3650 Toone St; 443-869-6874)

The Elephant
If Mom’s from Baltimore, she may remember the Brass Elephant. If she hasn’t seen its newest iteration already, take the opportunity to treat Mom to see the total transformation of one of Baltimore’s most memorable restaurant spaces. From 11 AM until the last seating at 6 PM, settle in (after, perhaps, a brief walk-through) and enjoy a specially created Mother’s Day brunch/dinner menu featuring items like Crab Cake Eggs Benedict, Seared Tuna Nicoise, Jerusalem Artichoke & Spring Onion Soup, Asparagus Risotto, Ricotta Ravioli, Cedar Plank Salmon, and a selection of decadent desserts. (924 N Charles St; 443-447-7878 )

Encantada
For some quirky coziness, pop into Encantada at the AVAM (perhaps after viewing the museum?) for Mother’s Day brunch with bottomless Bloody Marys, mimosas, and Evolution Craft Brewing drafts from 10 AM - 3 PM. (800 Key Hwy; 410-752-1000)

French Kitchen
Mom deserves some decadence, and who serves it up better than the French? Reserve a table at the gorgeously appointed French Kitchen at the Lord Baltimore Hotel and treat Mom to starters like stuffed mushrooms with lump crab, gruyere, and breadcrumbs or chilled strawberry bisque with fresh mint, wildflower honey, and balsamic vinegar and mains including decadent Croque Monsieur, Quiche St. Michael’s with lump crab, asparagus, tomato and swiss cheese, or sweet brioche french toast. (20 W Baltimore St; 410-539-8400)

Hersh’s
Mom can nosh on Belgian waffles, double-fried chicken, omelets with asparagus and goat cheese, or seasonal softshell crab sandwiches while downing Bloody Marys with cornichon-infused vodka, mimosas, or the appropriate beverage for the day: Mother's Ruin, with gin, vermouth, fresh lemon and grapefruit juice and bitters. (1843 Light St; 443-438-4948)

La Cuchara
Mother's Day brunch from 11 AM - 7 PM will feature a three course brunch for $32 per person with Basque-inspired cuisine and several of Chef Lefenfeld’s brunch favorites. (3600 Clipper Mill Rd St 125, 443-708-3838)

MD Live! Casino

Points South Latin Kitchen
This popular Thames Street spot in Fells will be hosting the Points South Drag Brunch for two shows at 11 am and 2pm. The 2 pm show is already sold out, but the 11 am show is still available. At $25 per person the (not-kid-friendly!) event includes a buffet brunch and show. Drinks are on special with $2 mimosas, $3 red sangrias, and $4 Bloody Marys. In case you miss out, there will also be a Drag Brunch on Father's Day (also 2 shows) as the official anchor to Gay Pride. All shows are a benefit for The Trevor Project. (1640 Thames St; 443-563-2018)

Rusty Scupper
This popular waterfront spot is hosting a Mother’s Day brunch with salads and starters, freshly carved meats, main items, a raw bar, and assorted desserts for $52.95 (adults) and $26.95 (children 10 yrs and under). Included in the price are sodas, iced tea, coffee, tea, and juices as well as Champagne, mimosas, bellinis and their signature red sangria.
