Wine Dinner: Christmas Feasts from around the World
On Tuesday, December 13, Kimberly Erceg from Southern Wines will be on site at The Point in Fells (one of our featured Best Bars) to pair wines with chef Jacob Raitt's five-course dinner showcasing Christmas feasts from around the world. Passed Hors d'Oeuvres:
Fried Carp and Potato salad – several European countries
“Queso de Bola” edam cheese balls with fruit “leather” – Philippines
Popcorn Chicken – Japan (Due to the lack of availability of turkey in Japan, Christians place their order up to 2 months in advance at KFC)
Course 1: Germany
House-made veal and bacon sausage with cardamon and mace braised cabbage
Course 2: Sweden and Norway
Braised pork belly in red currant sauce, “Dopp I Grytan” grilled flatbread and seasoned braising liquid
Dish 3: Brazil
Pan Seared flounder, garlicky kale, citrus jasmine rice, passion fruit buerre blanc
Dish 4: Hungary
Slow roasted Pheasant, “bobajka” poppy seed bread pudding, pickled rutabaga, pheasant gizzard gravy
Dish 5: Italy
Panettone Tiramisu, cocoa nibs, berry reduction, caramel covered hazelnuts
