Best of Drink Baltimore: 2012 Highlights

2012 was our first full year at Drink Baltimore, and it was a great one. We talked about beer, wine, cocktails and where to find the best. Here’s a recap of the top 10 moments from 2012. Cheers to all for an even better 2013.

Baltimore Bars With Outdoor Seating — Our most-visited article is one that won’t do us much good right now, in the dead of winter, but expect an update as spring rolls around; nothing beats sipping in the sunshine.

A Sneak Peek at Peabody Heights Brewery and the Edgar Allan Poe Series — Our preview into what is now Baltimore’s newest production brewery proved popular. Have you tried the Raven series brews yet?

Townhouse Kitchen + Bar Bringing Tap Tables to Harbor East — Folks seemed pretty excited about the idea of bar that featured tap tables where you could pour your own beer. Did the Townhouse live up to the hype?

Orioles Gameday Drink Specials — No doubt it was a great year to be an O’s fan. Here’s to a repeat and a more successful playoff run — all the way to the Series win.

Wynkoop Brews Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout With Real Bull Testicles — No, the brewery is not in Maryland, but yes, everyone was intrigued by this crazy idea. Anyone snag a sip yet, if you dare?

Bars in Baltimore with Pool Tables — A roundup we posted in early January proved to be a useful resource for you billiards fanatics out there. We’ve got 15 spots on the list, are we missing any?

Great American Beer Festival Medal Winners in Baltimore — Even before Peabody opened, Baltimore had plenty of brewing expertise, as demonstrated by the GABF medals for Union Craft Brewing and DuClaw.

2012 Drinker's Choice Award Winners — We held the first ever Drinker’s Choice Awards in March, and you picked the city’s best cocktail bar, beer bar, wine bar, bar hopping ‘hood, sports bar and more. Stay tuned for the 2013 edition — get your list of nominees ready.

20 Maryland Breweries & Brewpubs To Visit — As noted above, it was a beery year in Charm City, and we rounded up a ton of local facilities that are happy to host you for a look around. Next time you have a long weekend, consider this activity for a super fun and different day.
