Where to Find Black Friday Drink and Food Deals in Philadelphia

Should over indulgence and that guilt trip from your mom about eating and running right after dinner keep you in after Thursday night’s Thanksgiving feast, surely you’re going to need some “me time” come Friday. Forget the crowd-ravaged malls and stores and treat yourself to a satisfying drink. Here’s what’s happening in Philadelphia for Black Friday:

 

Khyber Pass Pub: Old City’s mainstay for the craft beer-consuming masses is hosting a Dogfish Head tap takeover. DFH rarities going on the daft lines include everything from 120 Minute IPA and Palo Santo Marron to Bitches Brew and Hellhound on My Ale. (56 S. 2nd St.)

 

Paradiso Restaurant and Wine Bar: From 5 to 8 PM the East Paradiso will offer guests new specialty cocktails for $7.50. Along with seasonally inspired libations, $6 small plates will be available. (1627 E. Passyunk)

 

Red Owl Tavern: All guest with a shopping bag in hand will receive 10 percent off their bill. (433 Chestnut St.)

 

HeadHouse Crab & Oyster Co.: The South Street fish house will offer guests half-off all menu items all day. (119 South St.)

 

MilkBoy: Dodge the throngs of shoppers crowding Center City blocks and stop in for a $9 Back-in-Black. The shot and beer dealy includes a 21st Amendment Back in Black IPA and a shot of Johnny Walker Black or Jack Daniels. (1100 Chestnut)

Square 1682: Open all day for brunch and dinner. (121 S 17th St.)

 

Jerry’s Bar: Cozying up at this NoLibs newcomer with a cup of its spiked cider — an $8 special all weekend — pretty much guarantees you will be spared the onslaught of rabid, Black Friday deal-seekers. (129 W. Laurel St.)

 

BRÜ Craft & Wurst: Everyone’s Left Hand man, Dan Conway, is hosting Fade to Blackout Friday at Center City’s only indoor beer garden. Begining at 11 AM, the BRÜ crew will tap 11 barrels of dark beers from Colorado’s Left Hand Brewing. Each one will be available for just $4 a pour. Featured beers include Wake Up Dead, Week Sauce, Black Jack, Pro Am Mr. Black Ale, Dunkel Weisse, Milk Stout, and Fade to Black volumes 2, 3, 5. (1318 Chestnut)

 

City Tap House: University City’s largest craft beer bar celebrates the art of “Dark Craft” with Back to Black. More than 25 of the darkest brews available — with a special emphasis on Black IPAs — are going on the draft lines beginning at 1 PM. For $35 you can get a flight of 10, and a keepsake glass. (39th and Walnut)

 

Memphis Taproom: As tradition dictates, Memphis Taproom will host its annual Everything Went Black celebration of dark beers. The lineup of brews, which this year includes everything from Sierra Nevada’s Black Belgian IPA Carton Epitome to Founder’s Breakfast Stout, start pouring at 11 AM. Beers and brunch will be served until 3 PM. (2331 E. Cumberland St.)

 

The Cambridge: South Street’s Cambridge is serving a special Black Friday brunch, and offering complimentary Bloody Marys for those who put eating and drinking ahead of cashing in on holiday bargains. (1508 South St.)

 

Kraftwork: East Girard Ave.‘s Kraftwork has the antidote for Black Friday madness — not to mention a respite from a marathon day spent with the family — with its Blackout Brunch, which will be served from 10:30 AM to 3 PM. Later the bar will have a “Filet and Foie Cheesesteak” on special. Served on an almost-foot-long flaky French roll, the swanky steak features filet tips, roasted balsamic cippolini onions, gruyère cheese and a savory foie gras sauce. Its will cost $16, and for an additional $12, you can get it upgraded with black truffle shavings. (541 E. Girard Ave.)

 

Strangelove’s: Nothing strange here: For the post-Thanksgiving recovery the bar and restaurnat is simply throwing on a bunch of awesome drafts, and slashing the prices on them. Beers include Tröegs Mad Elf, Sierra Nevada Narwhal, Abbaye De Saint Bon-Chien (2012), Victory Red Thunder, De Ranke Pere Noel, The Brewer's Art Birdhouse, and more. (216 S. 11th St.) 

 

Victory Brewpub: Start your day off right with a hearty breakfast, great brews, and some awesome deals on gifts you won’t find at big box retailers. Breakfast starts at 9:30 AM, and will be served until 11 AM. After gorging yourself, take a peek at the goods on sale in the brewery’s retial store.
