Portland Bubbles Week, May 4-11

When it comes to sparkling wine, some folks have the “thanks but no, that stuff gives me the worst headache,” sentiment. But sparkling wine — not sugar-laden, bottom-of-the-barrel bubbly labeled as champagne — is worth trying, especially with so many wineries and vineyards in Oregon making exceptional brut.

May 4

Bubbles cocktail workshop at Raven & Rose. Master the art of bubbly cocktails with Argyle Bubbles. Ticket price includes four cocktails and a light snack (3 PM; $50 per person; 20 tickets available).

Encore! is a bubbles and desserts pairing competition at Union/Pine where five of Portland’s top dessert chefs will compete for the best dessert as judged by ticket holders. Five desserts and five paired Argyle sparkling wines (7:30 PM; $25 per person; 200 tickets available). Buy tickets here.

Shucked! is Portland Monthly Magazine's oyster mignonette and bubbles pairing competition at Union/Pine. Five of Portland’s top chefs will compete for the best dressed oyster as judged by ticket holders. Attendees will "judge" five oysters and five paired Argyle sparkling wines (6 PM: $25 per person; 200 tickets available). Buy tickets here.
