Five Tequila Cocktails to Get Baltimore in the Mood for Cinco de Mayo

by Matthew Ferguson on Apr 28, 2014 in Roundups for Blue Agave Restaurant, Holy Frijoles, Jack's Bistro, Nacho Mama's

You don’t need an excuse to order a cocktail with that famous agave-based liquor, but it never hurts to have one. Let Cinco de Mayo be that excuse as you visit one of these bars. ¡Viva la tequila!

Blue Agave (1032 Light St.; 410-576-3938)
Feeling adventurous? Go for the Spicy Guavarita, made with chili-infused añejo tequila, guava syrup and fresh lime and pineapple juice.

Holy Frijoles (908 West 36th St.; 410-235-2326)
Here’s something fresh: all sour mixes are made in house at Holy Frijoles. Try the refreshing cucumber margarita, or why not treat yourself to a top shelf Holy-rita cocktail, made with the house sour mix, high-end tequila, lime, orange juice, lemon-lime juice and triple sec?

Jack’s Bistro (3123 Elliott St.; 410-878-6542)
Jack’s prides itself on unique concoctions, and the house margarita is no exception. The Jalapeño Margarita-tini, made with house-infused jalapeño tequila, puts just the right bite on this classic cocktail.

Miguel’s Cocina y Cantina (1200 Steuart St.; 443-438-3139)
For a little taste of heaven, order the Angel Gabriel, made with Don Julio 1942, Grand Marnier, Presidente Brandy and a special house mix.

Nacho Mama’s (2907 O'Donnell St.; 410-675-0898)
The famous Hubcap Margarita—true to its name, served in a silver hubcap—can be made with your choice of any margarita Nacho’s offers on the rocks. The gargantuan cocktail contains about four drinks worth of tequila, so grab a straw for each of your friends.
