Dogs Now Have Their Own Non-Alcoholic Wine

by Alexander Frane on Aug 16, 2016 in Culture

Earlier, we reported on the exciting release of wine for cats. For the kitty lovers out there, this was the perfect excuse to stay in and have a drink with a friend without the bothersome task of having human companions. Now, dog lovers can share in the joy of drinking with their pet, as Apollo Peak has finally released dog wine.

Much like the cat wine, Apollo Peak’s dog wines bear adorably terrible puns: ZinfanTail is the red, and Chardognay the white. Also like the cat wines, they’re not alcoholic, and not made with grapes, which can be quite harmful to pooches — they use beets instead. There’s no catnip instead, but rather peppermint and chamomile for a calming effect.

Neither herb is necessarily safe for your dog in large doses, so the brand strongly suggests you check with your veterinarian before you pour your dog a glass. If they do give you the go-ahead, then tell your family you’re “staying in for a quiet drink with a friend”, fire up the next Netflix show you’re bingeing, and enjoy.
