Listen to Great Live Music at These Baltimore Bars

by Jennifer Waldera on Apr 19, 2017 in Roundups

There are plenty of vast venues around the city hosting musicians, but there are a multitude of more modest spots to enjoy the music of local bands with some beverages. While the list of possibilities is long, we’ve narrowed it to just a few favorites.

This longstanding Federal Hill venue draws a variety of bands playing anything from bluegrass or rock to reggae or tributes. (10 E Cross St; 410-625-2000)

Bertha’s
A corner mainstay in Fells Point known for its mussels, Bertha’s also features live bands reliably on weekends and often on Wednesdays and Thursdays as well. (734 S Broadway; 410-327-5795)

Cat’s Eye Pub
Live music is on tap at this waterfront pub nearly all day 365 days a year, often featuring two bands in one day. (1730 Thames St; 410-276-9866)

The Crown
This Station North venue plays host to a variety of events with plenty of live music as well as a DJ, karaoke, and Korean cuisine. (1910 N Charles St; 410-625-4848)

The Horse You Came In On
Known for being the last bar that Edgar Allan Poe was spotted at before his demise, the Horse has some history. It also has live music seven days a week starting no later than 1 PM and lasting well into the night. (1626 Thames St; 410-327-8111)

This award-winning mainstay for music in Remington hosts dance parties and karaoke in addition to nightly shows by local bands. (2549 N Howard St; 410-662-0069)

Rye
This pre-Prohibition bar shakes and stirs some of the best cocktails in Fells Point. Sip to the backdrop of a variety of genres of live music most nights of the week. Check here to see who’s playing. (1639 Thames St; 443-438-3455)

Waterfront Hotel
While this historical spot in Fells Point was once a hotel (and purportedly one in which Martha Washington slept), it is now a two story bar that features live music every night at 10 pm. (1710 Thames St; 410-537-5055)

West Madison
This cozy spot with lounge seating, as well as two bars, is increasingly playing host to local live musicians. (311 W Madison St; 443-938-9109)
