Do You Realize The Flaming Lips are Teaming Up with Dogfish Head?

In early 2018, the Flaming Lips will take a break from battling pink robots and crowd-surfing in giant balloons to work on a beer with Dogfish Head Brewery. The beer is called Dragons & YumYums, a tart pale ale brewed with dragonfruit, yumberry, passionfruit, pear juice, and black carrot juice, with an ABV of 6.5%. The wild flavor profile is evocative of The Flaming Lips’ eccentric and bold musical style.

“The Flaming Lips are one of the most innovative and collaborative bands of all time and Dogfish shares a similarly playful and adventurous point of view,” says Sam Calagione, CEO and founder of Dogfish Head Craft Brewery. “Their art is a full-on otherworldly sensory experience and we strive to create that same intense sensational experience for craft beer drinkers in the development of our liquid art.”

This isn’t the first time Dogfish Head has collaborated with musicians. In 2012 the brewery partnered with legendary jam band The Grateful Dead on an imperial pale ale called American Beauty, reaching out to band’s faithful following for input. “Our brewery has been obsessed with music since the day we opened,” says Calagione, and it’s definitely demonstrated so.

The beer is set to come out in April of 2018, and will be available through August. The brewery has released its full calendar as well.
