A brew to benefit the Bay

Flying Dog Announces Year-Round Distribution of Pearl Necklace Oyster Stout

Save the Bay! The rallying cry is meaningful — the oyster population of the Chesapeake Bay is currently around 1% of its historical peak. In recognition of this, Flying Dog Brewery has announced it will make Pearl Necklace Oyster Stout available year-round throughout the country.

First released last November after a collaboration with Baltimore’s Woodberry Kitchen, the dry stout is brewed with actual Rappahannock River oysters, and — more importantly — is produced to benefit the Oyster Recovery Partnership. By distributing this well-received beer throughout the year (and in all markets), Flying Dog will continue to support the initiative, with a goal of enabling ORP to plant at least 1 million baby oysters in the bay by the end of 2012.

What’s better than wearing a pearl necklace? Drinking a Pearl Necklace!
