Lively Lanes: Where to Bowl With a Drink in Baltimore
As the weather cools, it’s time to reign in the outdoor drinking and settle in to the warmth of local watering holes. However, chilly nights needn’t equal lazy ones. Get out and pick up something a little heavier than just your pint glass at some of these local boozy bowling alleys.
Brunswick Perry Hall Lanes: With 48 lanes, this alley is the place to go for the best chance to get a spot to bowl on the weekends. Friday and Saturday nights feature special events from 9:30 PM until 2 AM including music, lights, glow-in-the-dark bowling and even the occasional drink special. Have a bowling brunch on Sunday mornings from 8–10 AM with all you can bowl specials for $10, or hit “Slamming Sunday Night” from 9–11:30 PM for drink specials and unlimited bowling deals. (4359 Ebenezer Rd.; 410-256-6300)
Mustang Alley’s: Just north of Fell’s Point, this 12 lane alley takes bowling to a new level with a bistro menu and a full bar. With both duckpin and ten-pin lanes, happy hour specials, and menu items ranging from crab pretzels and nachos to ribs or surf and turf, reservations are advised in order to ensure there’s a lane with your name on it. (1300 Bank St.; 410-522-2695)
Parkville Bowling Lanes: Offering the self-proclaimed best bowling alley pizza in Maryland, this cash only alley is worth the short drive out of the city. Go late night on Fridays for Rock and Bowl with a light show and DJ, or pop in as early as 9 AM during the week for bowling and breakfast. Grab a Boh or Bud from the bar, or get classy and sip on some well known wines. (7607 Harford Rd.; 410-444-6100)
Patterson Bowling: The oldest duckpin bowling alley in the entire United States, Patterson is the place to go for laid back bowling and boozing. Situated on the edges of Canton and Fell’s Point, the BYOB (wine and beer) joint hosts individuals as well as leagues on its twelve lanes split between two floors. (2105 Eastern Ave.; 410-675-1011)
AMF Country Club Lanes: This alley is basically giving away booze and pizza during the week with $2 beer specials on Tuesdays, draft beer and margarita deals on Mondays, and $14.95 all you can bowl AND all you can eat pizza Monday through Thursday and Sunday after 5 PM. There are also billiards tables and video games as well as six flat screen televisions. We’re thinking any night of the week is a good time to visit, but we’re pretty sure they’re all but begging for this to be our Monday Night Football hangout where we can watch the game, eat tons of pizza washed down with beers and margaritas, all while bowling on the cheap.
