Happy Hour Crawl: Charles Street in Mount Vernon
Charles Street is home to one of the widest arrays of bar-variety in the city. Whether you want a lounge, neighborhood restaurant, or brewpub you can find it all within a mile or so between 83 and the Inner Harbor. Give yourself an early-evening gift and kick off your crawl around 4 PM to make the most of all the specials along the way.
Owl Bar: 3 is the magic number at this Belvedere Hotel bar where we suggest you start your journey so you can fill your stomach with delicious brick oven pizza in preparation of all of delicious drinks ahead. During happy hour you can get $3 select drafts, $3 house wines and $3 rail drinks from 4-7 PM Monday-Friday (1 East Chase St.; 410-347-0888).
Brewer’s Art: Cross the street to this beer pub where you can choose your own atmosphere by imbibing in the upstairs bar with floor to ceiling windows or dark downstairs pub. Discounts on house beers are open from 4-7 PM and you should most definitely get some fries on the side while you are at it (1106 N. Charles St.; 410-547-6925).
Grand Central: Up the ante by grabbing a $6 rail martini at this GLBT- friendly entertainment hub. While the nighttime atmosphere is what this location is certainly known for, the happy hour crowd will be the perfect pick-me-up for midway through your crawl (1001 N. Charles St.; 410-752-7133).
Maisy’s: Strike up a conversation at one of our favorite hidden cocktail treasures as you make your way down Charles St. Once you grab a $4 well drink you can splurge on a full priced fancy drink like a Salted Caramel Apple martini (313 N Charles St.; 443-220-0150).
B&O Brasserie: Cap off your crawl with the $5 cocktail of the day or a $4 wine or champagne specials while kicking back in one of the poshest “hotel bars” in Baltimore. And when you are done you can jump on the Circulator to get yourself home in time for dinner (2 North Charles St.; 443-692-6172).
