Discover Award Winning Beer in Your Backyard at Union Craft Brewing
Woodberry's Union Craft Brewing is a relative newcomer to Baltimore beers, founded in 2011 and releasing their first malt in 2012. However, Union Craft has fast become a local staple and quickly made a name for itself as a force to be reckoned with by winning Bronze for Baltimore Alt (or Balt), a German-style Altbier, at the 2014 World Beer Cup.
In addition to the medal wining Alt, Union Craft offers three more beers year-round: the inaugural brew, a local favorite and Baltimore original, Duckpin, a hoppy pale ale with memorable citrus notes; Blackwing, a crisp dark lager with hints of roasted coffee bean and chocolate; and Anthem, a lightly hopped American Style cream ale in honor of the 200th anniversary of Francis Scott Key’s penning of The Star Spangled Banner.
The brewery manages to keep our palettes in perpetual anticipation by releasing seasonal, collaboration and small batch limited run brews in addition to the above mentioned staples. The most recent addition is The Liquid Local Legends (3XL) series with its initial release of an imperial premium lager, Sweat Shock Malt Liquor, paying homage to J. Roddy Walston & the Business. This brew is as bold as the Baltimore rock band it honors.
A local artisan producing quality beers and honoring Baltimore in all its glory, we expect to see Union Craft Brewing making big waves on the national stage, and can't wait to taste what's next.
Head to the tap room each Thursday through Saturday to whet your whistle, stock up on cans and fill your growlers. Happy hour specials run Thursdays and Fridays from 5 PM–8 PM, and free brewery tours (samples included!) are Saturdays starting at 1:30 PM. Be sure to check the hop house's website often, as they regularly open for special events, have a presence at many local festivals and team up with neighborhood culinary powerhouses for epicurean events and pairings that never disappoint.
