Baltimore's Best Bars and Drink Specials for March Madness 2015
Here’s the instant replay of your last few days. You’ve been losing sleep over perfecting your bracket and furiously making changes until the minute before they’re due. Now it’s time to sit back, relax and try not to think too much about losing your annual office pool. Check out these elite spots to catch the games.
Lighthouse Tavern
Already advertising specials for $2 Busted Bracket Bohs and $2.50 Buds during games at the start of the tournament, we’re pretty sure this spot just off the Square is going to be gaining popularity during March Madness. (1226 S Clinton St.; 410-342-9105)
This Locust Point spot with 19 HDTVs and a projection screen makes sure you won’t miss anything during the game. Try the wings. (1700 E Fort Ave.; 410-244-8084)
Venice Tavern
Cozy and local, this Highlandtown basement bar is the place to throw back some great craft beers at only $3 and easily grab a bar stool to watch the games. (339 S Conkling St.; 410-732-3045)
Jokers n Thieves
With 55 or more craft beers on tap, a burgeoning bourbon program, several large televisions and plenty of bar and high top seating, Jokers n Thieves (previously JD’s Smokehouse or Canton Smokehouse) is an ideal spot to watch the game with plenty of meats and starches to line the belly while swilling the suds. (3000 O’Donnell St.; 410-675-4029)
Um, their website is www.baltimoresbestwings.com, so how could this not be the spot to pop in to for game watching with wings? There are plenty of behind-the-bar televisions, an elevated corner television for those in the booths to enjoy and an upstairs area as well. (2100 Fleet St.; 410-327-5477)
Sliders Baltimore
With March Madness specials like a $5 lunch menu, $2 Bohs, $3 domestics and $5 Fireball, this spot near Baltimore’s sports stadiums and known as the place to party prior to O’s games is also ideal for NCAA games. (504 Washington Blvd; 410-547-8891)
Heavy Seas Alehouse
On the northern edge of Fell’s Point, Heavy Seas Alehouse serves up snacks like pretzel sticks with ancho pepper and Gold Ale sauce and Old Bay Caramel Popcorn as well as Grilled Sausage Sliders made with Roma Sausage and juicy burgers on toasted brioche. (1300 Bank St.; 410-753-1403)
BoatHouse Canton
If you want to accompany your game-watching with likely the biggest pile of nachos you can get in Baltimore, along with craft beer and draft wine (yes, draft wine! But there are bottles too...), this is the bar to sidle up to. The wings and crab nachos are top notch, too. (2809 Boston St.; 410-773-9795)
Max’s Taphouse
Best beer selection in Baltimore? Heart of Fell’s Point? Tons of televisions? What are you waiting for? (737 S Broadway; 410-675-6297)
