Where to Drink Spring Cocktails in Baltimore

by Jennifer Waldera on Mar 28, 2017 in Roundups

While there’s been no pronounced wintery weather this season, it’s clear we’re still all ready for spring. Thankfully, so are the bars. We have drinks here that are as equally prepared to pay homage to the O’s as they are to the margarita. There are few liquors, liqueurs, or trends, left unturned by Baltimore’s talented bartenders, and we thank them for that.

There are also a few sneak peeks and heads up on drinks that you can be the first to taste test at local spots, so read on to see what you’ve been drinking this season

311 West Madison
This comfy corner bar with enviable olive and pickle flights shakes and stirs with best. This colorful spring cocktail makes both sangria and the margarita a little classier.
Sangarita
Avión Tequila, fresh squeezed lime juice, triple sec, splash of sour, layer of pinot noir, garnished with fresh mint & lime

Birroteca
Bartender Nick Ramey never fails to disappoint with interesting cocktails to wash down the equally impressive noshes at this homey Hampden mainstay.
Nuevo-Rita
Coa de Jima Reposado Tequila, muddled strawberry, aperol, cardamaro, lime juice, green Chartreuse foam
Jazz Hands
Espirito Cachaca, jasmine tea, Creme de Violette, lavender bitters, muddled lime and mint

Bookmakers
Arguably the classiest spot on Cross St., Bookmakers is shaking up this springy citrusy cocktail with one of our favorite small-batch gins.
42 Degrees
Bluecoat Gin, Aperol, housemade hopped grapefruit falernum, lemon juice, Bell’s Two Hearted Ale

The Elephant
Who doesn’t love a colorful, spicy shout-out to the hometown team? #icesphereftw
Go O's Margarita
Carrot juice ice sphere, charred jalapeno, lime, tequila

Encantada
The mule is on-point, but who doesn’t love a punny drink?
Berry Breezy Mule
Tito’s Vodka, elderflower liqueur, strawberry-basil shrub, lime juice, housemade ginger beer
It’s About Fig & Thyme
Housemade limoncello, Figenza Mediterranean Fig Vodka, honey-thyme shrub, muddled lemon, fizzy water

Gunther & Co.
This Brewer’s Hill spot will be unveiling their very-Instagrammable tiki drink program this season on their patio, but before the weather breaks enough for that they’ll be sharing this one inside.
Destiny's Embrace
Traverse City Cherry Bourbon, Campari, Bloomery Black Walnut SweetShine, lemon bitters, starfruit garnish

The Milton Inn
As part of the Brigance Brigade Foundation’s lineup of activities to celebrate ALS Awareness month, the organization has paired with some local spots for its second annual ALS Bites! Campaign which includes this cocktail. Proceeds benefit the foundation’s mission to equip, encourage, and empower people living with ALS and a portion of the proceeds on this drink will be donated to the Brigance Brigade Foundation.
Goetze’s Caramel Apple Martini
Vodka (Ketel One preferred), sour apple liqueur, sour mix, shaken and stirred and garnished with a apple slice bruleed with sugar and Goetze’s Caramel candy

The Nickel Taphouse
If this is what Spring Break looks like, it’s a whole lot better than what we remember (or don’t?)...
Spring Break
Barr Hill Gin, Jack Rudy’s Small Batch Tonic, Green Chartreuse, mint, lime

La Cuchara
Wash back those pinxtos with this citrus infused punny concoction.
The Secret Ad-Meyer-er
Aviation gin infused with Meyer lemon and thyme, Green Chartreuse, Hydrangea Tea

LB SkyBar
This (only!) rooftop bar in Baltimore isn’t even open yet for the season, but they were willing to give us a sneak peek of the cocktails on the horizon. Pop in a month from now to sip these cocktails on their loungy rooftop deck.
SkyCollins
Absolut Lime, ginger syrup, fresh lemon juice
Harbor Breeze
Malibu Black, Absolut Ruby Red, pineapple juice, passion fruit juice
The South Side
Plymouth Gin, simple syrup, mint, lime
Mint Julep
Bulleit Rye Whiskey, simple syrup, mint, rhubarb bitters
SkyBreeze
Muddled cucumber and strawberry, Absolut Elyx
Fresh Sangria & Infusions
Whole carafes of Red and White Sangria and Cocktail Infusions

Modern Cook Shop
This Fell’s Point spot has nabbed Matt Robicelli to spruce up the spot with his baked decadence. Wash down that sweet potato pie bread pudding, or any of the rest of their creative menu, with this light spring sip.
Lavender Gimlet
Dogfish Head Whole Leaf Gin, lime, simple syrup, housemade lavender bitters

The Prime Rib at Maryland Live! Casino
You may gamble on a lot at the casino, but you can either sip away your sorrows or celebrate your winnings with these casino cocktails.
Prime Daiquiri
Bacardi White Rum, St. Germaine Elderflower Liqueur, cranberry juice, two fresh squeezed lime wedges, fresh tarragon leaves
English Rose
Tanqueray Gin, dry Vermouth, apricot brandy, grenadine, maraschino cherry, two fresh squeezed lemon wedges

RegionAle
We’re already in love with RegionAle’s concept of crafty continental sandwiches paired with craft beers, but these springy slushies at $4 each are sealing the deal for a quick ride to south of the city.
Wine Slushies
Pinot Grigio, lemon, strawberry

Royal Sonesta at Harbor Court
Royal Sonesta put together this list of creative cocktails to sip for the entirety of Baltimore’s Light City event for $6 during Happy Hour, 4-7 pm.
The Golden Hour
Sagamore Spirit Rye, Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur, orange juice, lemon juice, dash Angostura bitters, cherry garnish
Electric Blueberry Fizz
Absolut Vodka, Blue Curacao, lemon juice, splash of simple syrup, fresh blueberries, lemon peel garnish
Light Street Lemonade
Pink lemonade, white cranberry juice, Champagne, Triple Sec, raspberry garnish
Midori Sour
Midori Melon Liqueur, house sour mix, fresh lime juice, dash of lemon-lime soda

Wit and Wisdom
Grab a seat at the bar, or on the outdoor patio in the warmer weather- either way, there’s no chance you’ll feel like you’re at a hotel bar. Check out the newest cocktail while taking in the sunset and you might wish you’d booked a room.
Stalk in Trade
Tanqueray Gin, Krogstad Aqua Vit, ginger syrup, lime juice, ten leaves of arugula (small handful)
