Where to Celebrate World Gin Day in Baltimore

by Jennifer Waldera on Nov 6, 2017 in Roundups

Autumn in the mid-Atlantic may seem to be an untimely season to explore gin cocktails. However, November 7 is World Gin Day - and a perfect opportunity to explore some of the city’s best beverages created with the clear spirit.

Baltimore Whiskey Company
While you can’t sidle up to spend an entire evening sipping cocktails in BWC’s tasting room, you can slip in to get their Shot Tower Gin to stir this cocktail at home.
Tipsy Martinez
1.5 oz Shot Tower Gin
1.5 oz Sweet Vermouth
.25 oz Meletti Amaro
1 dash of orange bitters
Combine all ingredients in cocktail stirring glass. Add ice, stir. Strain onto one large ice cube and garnish with orange peel.

The Bluebird Cocktail Room
This Hampden lounge with an upscale ambiance serves up a classic G&T with a botanical twist.
Miss Isla
Gin, tonic, violette cordial

LB Speakeasy at Lord Baltimore Hotel
Newly opened on November 4, the LB Speakeasy is serving this Rickey, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s preferred cocktail. Initially served with a Bourbon base, it was switched to gin during Prohibition to avoid the lengthy aging process that whiskey requires.
Gin Rickey
Gin, lime, club soda

RYE
From this Fells Point prohibition style bar, this beverage, blending herbal and botanical flavors with citrus, is one of the most complex cocktails utilizing gin that we’ve seen.
Screenwriter's Blues
Russell Henry Malaysian lime gin, Varnelli dell' erborista, thyme liqueur, pineapple, lemon

The Elephant
The Elephant’s Lady Day cocktail is named for Baltimore’s Billie Holliday and was crafter to be served at their speakeasy, Upstairs @ The Elephant.
Lady Day
Gin, tequila, dry curacao, aperol, house made honey thyme syrup, lemon ice cube

The Food Market
The popular eatery on 36th Street in Hampden adds some bubbles and flowery flavor to elevate the simple spirit.
Wallflower
Barr Hill gin, St. Germaine, Prosecco, rose water, lime juice
