Baltimore's Best Beer Bars

Baltimore's Best Beer Bars

Sure, craft cocktails are all the rage, and in the winter months brown liquor often reigns supreme. However, we all want to hunker down with some brews and ambiance and some point and there’s no shortage of Baltimore spots to do so.

This is the kind of spot the locals haunt, and for good reason. Sidle up and sip suds and don’t expect the kind of hipstery feel like so many beer bars in Baltimore. The people who are here really did know about it before it was cool. Pro-tip: They don’t serve food, but you can order in from local spots. (600 S Potomac St.; 410-276-7553)

This Fells Point mainstay is known for its live music, but their beer selection is on point. Pop in for tunes 365 days a year while enjoying the craft beer on tap. (1730 Thames St.; 410-276-9866)

A German beer house is clearly the place to go for beers, and Das Bier Haus does not disappoint. Fill yourself with all of the giant pretzels while swilling their suds. (1542 Light St.)

This Hampden spot delivers the hops. Specializing in Belgian brews, DKD is a solid destination for a night of beer imbibing. (3602 Hickory Ave)

This corner taphouse in Fells Point has more beer than you’ll ever be able to drink, as hard as you may try. A cornerstone of the Fells Point drink scene, with hundreds of available beers, Max’s is the place to go for any beer lover or aficionado. (737 S Broadway; 410-675-6297)

This lowkey Brewer’s Hill spot is unassuming, but its selection is wide. Thank gypsy brewer Brian Strumke for all of the creativity behind the taps. (1028 S Conkling St.; 410-327-0760)

Situated a bit off the Square in Canton, Smaltimore’s kitsch isn’t just in their name. This spot runs their beer prices by supply and demand on a Wall Street style board. (2522 Fait Ave.; 410-522-1421)

Suds and sausages are what this cozy Highlandtown spot is known for. Go for the brews, stay for the links. (418 S Clinton St.; 410-469-9003)

Who could overlook a spot named for the city’s legacy of being wet in dry times? The beer list is as worth a try as the inventive menu. (223 W Chase St.; 443-873-6699)
