Drink Gadgets: Part Deux

Drink Gadgets: Part Deux

Here at Drink Philly the only thing we love (almost) as much as drinking, is gadgets. Few  partnerships in this world form as perfect a bond as when the two come together and make the already pleasurable act of drinking that much more entertaining.

So in addition to our ongoing quest to find you the most interesting gadgets to show off to  friends at parties, we bring you Drink Gadgets: Part Deux.

The 36 Shot Bandolier
http://budk.com/Gifts-and-Gadgets/36-Shot-Glass-Bandolier

Price: $10
Usefulness: 10

If John Rambo were to be paratrooping into the jungles of Vietnam to fight the thirst and boredom of indigenous folk, you can bet your early 80’s mullet he’d be wearing one of these. To put this in perspective, assuming each one of these shot glasses is filled with one ounce of liquor (about average for a small shot), you would be carrying around about a bottle and a half of your weapon of choice. And ironically, you would become a walking advocate for peace.

Belt Buckle Beer Opener
http://www0.shopping.com/beer-belt/products

Price: Varies with manufacturer. Usually anywhere from $15+
Usefulness: 10

When inebriated, it’s often difficult to remember where you put things, like bottle openers. It’ll be difficult to forget this invention since it’s the thing holding up your pants. There are many variations of the bottle opener belt, most in the form of the buckles themselves. Speaking from personal experience, I have never regretted this purchase, and neither has anyone else around me.

Ring Beer Bottle Opener
http://www.thinkgeek.com/caffeine/accessories/756e/

Price: $8
Usefulness: 7

Much like the bottle opener belt, the ring could be with you at all times. Doubling as a fashion accessory, this piece of jewelry will tell everyone that you care about how you look, but you’re here to party. It loses some points, though, since it isn’t holding up your pants.

The ‘Shot-Gun’
http://www.firebox.com/product/2743/Shot-Gun?currency_conversion=1

Price: ~$24
Usefulness: 8

Aside from being the safest and most fun form of a firearm, this gadget is perhaps the most appropriately named on this list. The “Shot-Gun” is a variation of a squirt gun, only it shoots small, 17ml (a little less than half a shot) bursts of whatever ammunition it takes to get the job done. This is a must have in the War Against Thirst. If you choose to purchase any other items from this site (such as their featured 'ninja weapons,' 'medieval arms' or 'blowguns for outdoor sports'), please do not operate them while drinking. We'll never forgive you.

Coin-Operated Mini Fridge
http://www.coolest-gadgets.com/20070902/koolatron-coin-op-mini-fridge/

Price: $150
Usefulness: 7

Everyone has ‘that’ friend, who repeatedly comes to their apartment and mooches off their beer supply, while never contributing. This invention has the potential to save a lot of aggravation in this area. Go ahead, let that friend come over, but if he wants any of your brew he’s gonna have to pay up. This product is hard to find, making availability an issue here. But if time is an issue with the beer scavengers, you could always try a rolled up newspaper.

The Gamerator
www.thegamerator.com

Price: $3,500
Usefulness: Impossible to gauge.

When my time comes, and I walk toward that beautiful white light, I will go peacefully knowing that an invention such as this exists. The Gamerator, is a classic arcade machine with a built in kegerator system and a 26 inch flat panel HDTV. It comes loaded with over 100 classic arcade games, such as: Pac Man, Mortal Kombat 1 through 3, Street Fighter, Castlevania, Contra and a Windows XP operating system making the machine even more customizable. For playability it has a two player system with joy sticks, trackball, buttons and adapters available for Playstation, Xbox or Wii. It even has cup-holders for your brew, which dispenses out of a tap on the front of the machine. The price, while expensive, is reasonable considering what most arcade machines go for, let alone a kegerator. Yes, this is real.
