Wild Onion Brewing Co. Jack Stout
We took a chance on a random brew; so today we’re drinking Jack Stout from Wild Onion Brewing Co. The brewery is located in Lake Barrington, IL, and is located within the same quarters as The Onion Pub. It has rested here comfortably since 1995, where they continue to churn out brewpub fare for the locals.
The Jack Stout is brewed using five different malts, and boasts notes of coffee and espresso. It pours thick and rich, with a pitch-dark color. It has a thin, chocolate-colored head, and smells of chocolate and malty deliciousness.
The flavor is particularly malty, with a lingering taste of bittersweet chocolate and coffee. It’s surprisingly dry, and is a perhaps even a little smoky in the finish. Despite its heavy-looking, dark texture, it has a much lighter body than expected.
The beer clocks in at 6% ABV, and we’ve been happy to toss a few of these back at Drink Philly HQ. Keep your eyes open for this tasty brew!
