Quick, name two things you love to put in your mouth! No, not fishsticks. No, no that either. What comes to mind for a great many of us are the wonderful palate-pleasers beer and bacon. At the Capital Bacon & Beer Bash, coming together this Saturday at the Sunset Room at National Harbor, that’s exactly what’s in store.
Heavy Seas Beer has collaborated with area restaurants to put on a day-long homage to the fantastic pairing of cured pork and malty brew. No less than 10 different types of bacon from around the world will be on offer, including bourbon-flavored bacon, juniper bacon, duck bacon, apple-cinnamon bacon, and more. Chefs will compete to win the honor of “best bacon dish,” and Sausage Craft head butcher Chris Mattera will put on a live whole hog butchering demo.
Act now to snag your $70 all-you-can-eat-and-drink ticket: only 400 people are allowed into each of two four-hour sessions (noon–4 PM or 5–9 PM), so space is limited.
