Repeal Day Dinner at Mr. Rain's Fun House, Dec 4

Repeal Day Dinner at Mr. Rain's Fun House, Dec 4

With Thanksgiving over and done, there's another big holiday looming in our near future. That's right, Repeal Day! December 5 marks the 78th anniversary of the ratification of the 21st Amendment, effectively repealing Prohibition and returning to Americans the right to imbibe as they saw fit.

On Sunday, December 4, Federal Hill's ode to artful funk Mr. Rain's Fun House is celebrating this glorious day in U.S. history with a $65 grand tasting dinner inspired by the Roaring Twenties. Chef Bill Buszinski has crafted a five-course menu full of classics like oysters Rockafeller and baked Alaska, with plenty of hearty meats in between. To go along with the eats, beverage director Perez Klebahn has prepared an extremely well-thought-out slate of liquid refreshment.

For each course, a classic, Prohibition-era cocktail will be served, accompanied by a modern take on the same. So along with your Plymouth gin and lemon juice French 75, you can also try a "French 75," created with Korean rice-wine soju, yuzu juice and sparkling sake. Think you know a Sidecar well? Try the nouveau version: dry oloroso sherry, Luxardo and a coconut tincture.

The evening begins at 6 PM with complimentary hors d'oeuvres, and dinner starts at 7 PM. In partnership with the Baltimore Jazz Alliance, live jazz will play throughout the event. Check out the full menus, below, and then call ahead or make reservations at Open Table and come to the top of the American Visionary Art Museum for some serious repeal-worthy fun, food and drink.
