Hersh's Pizza & Drinks Opens in Riverside
Who doesn’t like pizza and beer? Better question, who doesn’t like crispy Neapolitan pizza and local craft beer? South Baltimore just got an infusion of the that tasty combo, thanks to newly-opened Hersh’s Pizza & Drinks (in the former Rub BBQ space, just south of Federal Hill).
Brother and sister Josh and Stephanie Hershkovitz are bringing rustic Italian fare, an impressive beer list and vintage cocktails to the neighborhood with the bi-level tavern, which sports two bars and ten taps. Twenty wines are available by the bottle at prices starting as low as $20, and half are available by the glass as well.
Drafts will tilt local, and starting offerings include Flying Dog In-Heat Wheat, Weyerbacher Winter Ale and Victory Headwaters Pale Ale. Canned brews make up a good chunk of the other options, with fun choices like Butternuts Porkslap Pale Ale and Oskar Blues Old Club rubbing shoulders with a series of $2.50 standbys: Natty Boh, Genesee Cream Ale, Miller Lite and PBR (that one in 24-oz. size!).
Specialty cocktails run $9–$11, with classics like the Negroni, Sidecar, Clover Club and Moscow Mule on the list. Enjoy them amongst the reclaimed industrial decored interior, enlivened by life-size drawings by artist Kerry Cesen on exposed brick walls.
Happy hour runs every weekday from 5–7 PM and features a cool deal on tap offerings: $5 brings two 10-oz. pours at a time, and they can be mix-and-match (i.e. you don’t have to get two of the same). For non-beer-drinkers, rail drinks are $3. Expect happy hour snacks to show up in the near future. More dealage comes during Sunday’s “Pies & PBR” special – a free 24-oz. can with every pizza purchase.
Operating hours are 5–10 PM Sunday, Monday and Wednesday; 5PM–midnight, Thursday–Saturday
