Eighth Annual Belgian Beer Fest at Max's Taphouse, Feb 17-19
If you happen to stop into Max’s Taphouse this week and find their normally absurdly expansive selection a bit redacted, cut them a bit of slack. The Fells Point craft brew haven is gearing up for their eighth annual Belgian Beer Fest, a three-day long extravaganza featuring the best Belgium has to offer.
The whole event is pay as you go, with no entrance fee, so expect a line to form first thing in the morning, and last the whole day through. Our advice? Get there early, but also check the weather, and be sure to dress appropriately, because once inside, the wait will be worth it.
From 11 AM to close on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, an astounding 100 Belgian brews will be flowing from the house taps, and each day you can expect a different selection. Add 200 more Belgian labels in bottles, along with a special menu of Flemish and Wallonian eats (think mussels, bison burgers, pommes frites and more), and you’re in for a boozy Euro-style treat.
The draft list is available over on Max's website, where they also kindly list nearby hotels for those who don't live in the area but still want to make a day of it. The price of a glass of beer varies greatly, depending on the label, but during the fest, 5-oz. tasting pours of all drafts will be available for just $3.25 each. How many are you planning to sample?
