Where to Find the 5 Best Margaritas in Baltimore
There is something incredibly festive about a salt-rimmed glass and the perfect amount of tequila, especially in the month of May. The celebration of Mexican heritage known as Cinco de Mayo has been known to cause the innate urge to drink margaritas at every time of day and sing Margaritaville until the wee hours of the night . Here’s where we recommend getting your tequila tippling on with Baltimore’s best margaritas. Do you have a favorite you think should've made the list? Let us know on Facebook or Twitter.
Miguel’s Cocina y Cantina: For those looking for the freshest margarita options, here’s an excellent place to start the celebration. Miguel’s boasts a menu with no pre-made mixes; their own blend is made with squeezed lime juice and simple syrup — a fresh combination with the perfect blend of sweet and sour. The Bosch Pear Margarita, made with Milagro Silver, Citronge, Pear puree, and Miguel’s mix, is smooth and leaves a unique lingering light pear taste. Happy hour specials start after 3 PM on weekdays at this Locust Point stop, when all margaritas are $1 off (1200 Steuart St.; 443-438-3139).
Blue Agave: With approximately 130 varieties of tequila, this is a serious hub for margarita drinking. It could take hours to read through each of the options on the menu, so our suggestion is to leave it to the pros and ask the knowledgeable bartenders for a recommendation. One of the highlights is the Spicy Guavarita, a chili-infused anejo tequila, guava syrup, fresh lime and pineapple juices. It was spicy enough to catch and hold our attention and the sweet addition of the fresh pineapple juice cemented our decision. Happy hour is the perfect time to taste test some of the many options on the list; from 5–7 PM house margaritas are only $5 and all other margaritas are $1 off (1032 Light St.; 410-576-3938).
Jack’s Bistro: For a bolder, more fiery take on the traditional Margarita, check out the one served at this nationally renowned spot in Canton. The bartenders here mix it up with a housemade, jalapeno-infused tequila. (3123 Elliott St.; 410-878-6542)
Little Havana: Every margarita deserves a quality atmosphere, and the outdoor seating here provides the perfect backdrop for a thirst-quenching beverage. Overlooking the harbor, the patio is a great location to work off some weekday stress with a group of fellow tequila fans. Thursday nights here are a margarita lover’s heaven, with half-off pitchers from 4–8 PM. Make sure you arrive early to avoid the rush, this is sure to be a hot spot all week (1325 Key Hwy.; 410-837-9903).
Nacho Mama’s: Embrace the social aspect of margarita imbibing with the group-friendly Hubcap Margarita. Served in a silver hubcap, on the rocks with straws, this unique presentation earns it a spot on our list. Typically made with standard Rain tequila, all hubcap margaritas are customizable and we suggest adding a splash of flavor to excite your tastebuds (2907 O’Donnell St.; 410-675-0898).
