B&O American Brasserie Celebrates National Train Day, May 12
This country owes much to the railroad, the great tracks of which made our continent-wide expansion possible, and Saturday, May 12 is National Train Day, marking the 143rd anniversary of the nation’s first transcontinental railroad. Where better to celebrate than B&O American Brasserie, situated in the historic home of one of the most prominent U.S. train headquarters.
Chef Thomas Dunklin has prepared a special menu based on dishes served on the original B&O train cars (think classics like spoonbread and rhubarb pie), and head bartender Brendan Dorr has whipped up several train-themed cocktails.
On Saturday, the three-course dinner will be offered for $35 (see full menu below), and dishes are also available á la carte. Start the meal off with a Boxcar Beer #2 (ale, cider and Velvet Falernum; $9), Hobo’s Cola & Bourbon (housemade cola and Bulleit Bourbon; $9) or a Horsecar (Hendrick’s Gin with thyme and muddled blueberries; $10).
