NYC Dispatch: Liquor Infused Sandwiches
Is this about to be a new trend? Word comes from UrbanDaddy that NYC’s Salumè – an upscale SoHo deli known for Italian panini — is now serving liquor-infused sandwiches. You’ve heard of ham and cheese on rye? Now you can get ham with rye: surryano ham is layered with asiago cheese, fig mustard and peppermint is drizzled with Bulleit rye, right before serving.
These are not meats cooked in liquor, these are meats drenched in liquor. Or at least sprinkled liberally, with a medicine dropper. Another option pairs proscuitto with gin, or one with the Italian ham and scotch. You can apparently also order your sliced meat to take home in the boozy fashion (which you could easily — and probably much less expensively — do yourself, no?).
Is a three panini lunch better than a three martini lunch?
