Labor Day: Grand Prix or Maryland State Fair?
This Labor Day holiday there are two huge Maryland events taking over the city: the Baltimore Grand Prix race and the Maryland State Fair. It is impossible to choose one over the other so we suggest dividing and conquering for a fun-filled Baltimore weekend.
Baltimore Grand Prix: Kicking off on Friday, August 31 and running through Sunday, September 2, you can watch the IZOD Indy Series and American Le Mans Series race around the Inner Harbor. This 12-turn course provides fast-paced entertainment and is sure to keep your attention as the cars fly down our everyday roads at upwards of 180 mph.
Tickets can be purchased in advance here for single days or multiple day packages and run anywhere from $15 to $85 for general admission with higher priced reserved seating available as well.
Maryland State Fair: The fair (August 24–September 3) kicks it into high gear this weekend with concerts by Victoria Justice on Friday and the Band Perry on Saturday. Take a stroll around the Timonium Fairgrounds and enjoy rides, tons of good food, animals and more. The Masters of the Chainsaw exhibit is a must see; using only chainsaws they carve incredibly detailed sculptures from tree trunks!
Admission is $8 for adults and tickets to go on rides are $1 each (rides range from 1-6 tickets). However, on Monday, September 3, from 10 AM–close, fairgoers can pay $22 to ride an unlimited number of rides.
