B&O Brasserie's Fall Cocktails From Brendan Dorr
The autumn cocktail list at B&O American Brasserie is in full effect, and head bar chef Brendan Dorr is up to his usual trick of combining classics and new recipes that are too tempting to pass up.
The “Winner Circle” section of the menu is a set of four drinks that have all won recent awards at cocktail competitions. For example, the Galavanter ($12) was the top recipe at the Baltimore Bartenders Guild “Ryes Up” charity cocktail competition. With Bulleit rye, St. Germain, Velvet Falernum, grapefruit bitters and dry vermouth, this is a belly-warmer that will spark up any nippy evening.
“Railroad Ties” showcases Baltimore-themed originals, such as the Charm City Fizz ($11) with Tanqueray 10, Aperol, Luxardo Maraschino, citrus, simple cyrup, cream and egg white. It’s a satisfying drink — hearty but not heavy, perfect for a gray Sunday afternoon.
The list continues with “Flips, Cups & Fixes,” with harvest appropriate drinks like Flip Ya the Bird ($11). Wild Turkey bourbon is the fowl in question, shaken with Nux Alpina walnut liqueur, chamomile syrup, lemon, orange bitters and egg. And there are always the “Flowing Bowls,” featuring four servings of bespoke punches for $40 or $45, great when you’ve got a group.
