Baltimore's Best Bars for Outdoor Drinking, 2015 |
Fell’s Point
Grab a burger and a brew at the tables situated right on Thames Street. (1702 Thames St.; 410-563-5423)
The Point in Fells
High top tables outside are a prime spot for dining and drinking at this corner bar overlooking the water in this quaint part of town. (1738 Thames St.; 410-327-7264)
Slainte
Grab some Irish food and brews here and you’ll also get a view of the renovations that are turning the old “Homicide” police building into Kevin Plank’s upscale boutique hotel on the waterfront. (1700 Thames St.; 410-563-6600)
Thames Street Oyster House
Lots of local beer and wine choices with a lengthy list of oyster options are the draw to this popular place in Fell’s. (1728 Thames St.; 443-449-7726)
Waterfront Kitchen
Possibly sporting the most outdoor seating of any one restaurant in Fell’s Point, this spot’s new executive chef, David Hynes, is ready to wow diners with food, and the bar is putting out creative cocktails that satisfy. (1417 Thames St.; 443-681-5310)
Admiral’s Cup
Right on the corner of Thames and Broadway, Admiral’s Cup’s outdoor seating overlooks the water in Fell’s Point. Enjoy local beer, wine and cocktails and take in a lot of local flavor at this recently updated area favorite. (1647 Thames St.; 410-534-5555)
One Eyed Mike’s
This popular Grand Marnier bar sneakily hides its outdoor seating in the back of the restaurant, making it a great location to enjoy cocktails without the street noise that urban outdoor dining and drinking can bring. (708 S Bond St.; 410-327-0445)
V-No
Situated right along the water in Historic Fell’s Point, wine lovers can enjoy a glass or share a bottle of their favorite white or red and choose from an array of snacks or sandwiches from the menu. (905 S Ann St.; 410-342-8466)
Just like the inside, Peter’s doesn’t sport a ton of tables outside either, so timing is key in ensuring you get a spot at one of the best off-the-beaten-path restaurants in Fell’s Point once the weather warms. (504 S Ann St.; 410-675-7313)
Nanami Cafe
While we love the nod toward authenticity in its interior, we also adore the ability to watch the sunset (or occasionally the drunk revelers departing from an adult Urban Pirates cruise) overlooking the water from Ann Street. (907 S Ann St.; 410-327-9400)
Alexander’s Tavern
Craft beer, tater tots and pizza (as well as pretty fantastic service every time we’ve visited) are the draw to Alexander’s. We’re even more attracted to drink and dine here when the outdoor tables make the experience an al fresco one. (710 S Broadway; 410-522-0000)
Ze Mean Bean
There are only a couple tables available outside of this quaint and cozy Eastern European spot, but we can think of no place we’d rather sip Krupnik (house-infused cinnamon/honey vodka) or a Zywiec (Polish lager) and nosh on the likes of pierogies, kielbasa or seasonally inspired fare. (1739 Fleet St.; 410-675-5999)
Todd Conner’s
This corner spot on Broadway is a staple for juicy burgers and creamy mac and cheese, and the beer selection is routinely on point. Quality varieties of wine are always available, and the rotating list of cleverly named cocktails is always the first menu we check upon arrival. (700 S Broadway; 410-537-5005)
RA Sushi
While we love the high energy ambiance inside RA Sushi, the outdoor dining features the same artistically prepared fish in a little lower key environment. The seasonal cocktails, as well as the signature staples, are always delicious, and RA Sushi regularly switches up specials to keep happy hour interesting. (390 Lancaster St.; 410-522-3200)
Kali’s Court
Kali’s has long been a fine dining destination, and one of the most inviting parts of the place is its gorgeous outdoor dining area. Adorned with flowers and vines, the garden-style seating area is directly on Thames Street but separated just enough by the outdoor decor to ensure a serene dining experience. (1606 Thames St.; 410-276-4700)
Max’s Taphouse
With more beer on tap and in bottles than any other bar in Baltimore, we can’t think of a better place to enjoy a cold beer outside. Bonus for tobacco-lovers: Many cigars are routinely enjoyed at the high top tables lining the Broadway side of the popular corner bar. (737 S Broadway; 410-675-6297)
Riptide by the Bay
If sitting in a breezeway while cracking crabs sounds a little odd, think again. This tiny joint has maximized its space by building tables in the space that separates it from the adjacent building, and we couldn’t love it more. It’s particularly perfect on those warm days when being in direct sunlight while dining isn’t optimal. (1718 Thames St.; 410-732-3474)
Tapas Adela
With three varieties of sangria and impressive cocktails, Adela is a shoo-in for best spot to sip al fresco. Nosh on small plates, people-watch and enjoy the water view as well. (814 S Broadway; 410-534-6262)
Dog Watch Tavern
Pub grub and good beer is the name of the game at Dog Watch Tavern, and there are a handful of seats outside to enjoy both. (709 S Broadway; 410-276-6030)
Papi’s Tacos
This street taco hotspot opened in 2014 and is booming with business each time we pass by. Thankfully, the warmer weather should make getting a seat (and a margarita) a little easier with the addition of outdoor tables. (1703 Aliceanna St.; 410-299-8480)
Duda’s Tavern
A corner dive bar (in the very best way), Duda’s is affordable and ideal for a laid back night of throwing back plenty of beers and tasty crab cakes. (1600 Thames St.; 410-276-9719)
Ale Mary’s
Six varieties of crushes, a stellar beer selection and quality nightly deals like Steak Night and the blue plate specials keep diners and drinkers coming back to this neighborhood staple.(1939 Fleet St.; 410-276-2044)
