Happy Hour Crawl: Canton
When it’s time for a happy hour bar crawl, we think it’s important to have more of the “happy” and less of the “crawl.” That’s why Canton is the perfect neighborhood for a bar crawl. This beloved Charm City community houses a fairly large quantity of bars and restaurants with a huge variety of ambiance, all within close walking distance of each other.
Lighthouse Tavern (1226 South Clinton St.; 410-342-9105)
Start your crawl off the Square at this always welcoming corner joint. Large enough to accommodate all of those in your crawl, you can dive into their nightly drink specials right away or line your belly with some of their amazing house made buffalo chicken or crab dips, served with house made chips.
Tuesday: Three beef or chicken tacos for $5.50 and $4 Margaritas
Wednesday: $2 off Canton's wings and $4 glasses off wine
Thursday: Chicken Dinner Night - $13 for two pieces of delicious fried chicken, housemade macaroni ‘n cheese, and the veggie of the day.
Friday: Locals night - those in the 21224 zip code get happy hour prices all night long.
Jack’s Bistro (3123 Elliott St.; 410-878-6542)
Also off the Square, Jack’s Bistro is run by renowned local chef Ted Stelzenmuller. If your bar crawl crowd consists of food lovers, this is the place to pop into for some apps like mac ‘n cheese and chocolate or poutine. The bar continually builds upon its innovative cocktail program and the beer list is admirable. The wine list is varied and even features sake. If you’re looking to class up your bar crawl in Canton, this is the place to stop.
Daily: Half price bottles of wine; 5 to 7 PM, and $2 off beer, wine, cocktails and appetizers from 11 PM to 1 AM.

Known for their Pirate Juice, this large bar and restaurant not only houses two levels inside, but an upstairs outdoor space for those who want to imbibe outside — without the noisiness at ground level. When it’s cool, space heaters are switched on to warm the deck and its drinkers. With plenty of space, and lots of specials, Plug Ugly’s is one of the best spots to stop on a crowded Canton evening.
Happy hour 4 - 7 PM daily: All rail drinks $3; House specialty drinks $5; $2 off wines by the glass; $1 off all beers; $1 selected oysters (1/2 or full dozen only); $8 half lb. steamed shrimp and $15 for a full lb.
Shiso Tavern (2933 O’Donnell St.; 410-276-8800)
While a sushi joint doesn’t always pop to mind as the destination for happy hour bar crawling, Shiso has all of the makings of a perfect stop. There are plenty of food specials to help soak up all of the delicious beverages you’ve already enjoyed, and their drink list is an interesting one. With eight different wine offerings by the glass (plus three different types of sangria, including a sake sangria), vino lovers in the group will be pleased, while beer drinkers can enjoy any of 12 bottled beers at very reasonable costs. There is also a sake list and creative cocktail and “fishbowl” lists. But if you’re a true lover of all things Charm City, you’ll have to try the Shiso Bomb - a cocktail made with a half pint of Natty Boh mixed with house sake.
