Trends: Vodka Going Back to Basics
Wanna try guess the next big thing in flavored vodkas? Nope, it’s not maple. And certainly not mouth-scorching cinnamon.
Apparently, it’s vodka.
While we’ve seen everything from glazed donuts to peanut butter and jelly enter the infused vodka arena in recent years, what's trending now is the pristine, unadulterated flavor of the spirit itself.
The Associated Press reports there’s a growing number of premium vodka producers who are turning their backs on the trendy Fruit Loops and Cupcake infusions and pushing the natural inherent flavors of their artisanal spirits.
Whether they’re made with icelandic glacial water and filtered over lava rocks, like Grant Brands’ new Reyka, or produced by hand from farm-grown and handpicked spuds like Colorado’s Woody Creek Distillers, with these emerging products, the emphasis is being placed on their intrinsic and unadulterated tastes.
