Giddyup to the Decanter Wine Festival at Laurel Park, April 16

While day-drinking should never be a race to the finish line, there is certainly a reason to raise a glass to daytime drinks with the horses running for the finish line in April. As the Triple Crown descends upon us, the Maryland Wineries Association is kicking off racing season with the 6th Annual Decanter Wine and Racing Festival.

At a new location this year, in Laurel Park, this year’s Decanter Wine Festival will be celebrating Maryland’s tradition of horse-racing with an impressive offering of wines and cider from over 20 Maryland wineries while the horses race. The festival kicks off at 12 PM on Saturday, April 16.

Don your best hat and Derby gear, as there will be a “best-dressed” contest for both men and women with winners receiving two tickets to a future Maryland Wine event and a pair of tickets to the Black-Eyed Susan Day Flute Club concert.

Maryland Wines being featured at the event include Boordy Vineyards, Cove Point Winery, Cygnus Wine Cellars, Dragonfly Vineyard & Winery, Elk Run, Far Eastern Shore Winery, Fiore Winery & Distillery, Fridays Creek, Great Frogs, Great Shoals, Harford Vineyard & Winery, Knob Hall Winery, Layton’s Chance, Linganore Winecellars, Olney Winery, Port of Leonardtown Winery, Romano Vineyard & Winery, Royal Rabbit, Running Hare Vineyard, Solomons Island Winery, St. Michael’s Winery, Urban Winery, and Turkey Point Vineyard.

General admission tickets are $30 and include admission to the event and tastings throughout the day. The Decanter Pass VIP ticket is $50 and includes an upgraded wine glass and samples of exclusive Decanter wines from each attending winery including new releases, limited productions, and premium label wines. On-site parking is free, and the event will take place rain or shine.
