Make This Purple Cocktail To Honor Prince's Memory

We lost an incredible musical talent today, very unexpectedly — Prince, the legendary performer and all-around spectacle of a human being, passed away at his home in Minnesota at the age of 57.

If you want to honor Prince tonight, go ahead and try a classic blue-purple cocktail known as the Aviation. Try to resist the temptation to pour some out; you won’t want to waste any.

1 1/2 ounces gin
1/2 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
3/4 ounces maraschino liqueur
1/4 ounce crème de violette

Add all the ingredients to a shaker and fill with ice. Shake, and strain into a cocktail glass.

Garnish with a cherry if desired.
