DuClaw Releases Barrel Aged Bombers
As of this week, three new winter-perfect DuClaw beers are available at liquors stores around the city and region. All aged in oak casks and bottled in large, 22-oz. glass, these brews are perfect for the cool autumn evenings that lie ahead.
Black Jack Stout takes the flavors of charred oak from its barrel and melds it with smoky malt, dark chocolate and coffee, epitomizing the Russian imperial style. The two months of aging lead to a smooth, intense flavor, despite its 8% ABV.
Retribution spends six months inside casks used to age bourbon, and gains vanilla and caramelized sugar flavors from the spirit-soaked wood. Each run is drawn from a single container, offering a unique taste for each bottle you uncap (though at 10.5% ABV, you’ll probably want to leave some space between Retribution sessions).
Last in the trio is the Double Black Lightning, an American black ale with twice the hoppiness and twice the roasted malt flavor of DuClaw staple Black Lightning. At 7.7% ABV, it packs more punch than its year-round doppleganger, too. Check out our list of six great liquor stores in Baltimore, or swing DuClaw brewpub to get your dark beer fix.
